Djibouti, located at the southern end of the Red Sea is a small East African country which produces salt as well as construction materials e.g. basalt. Other mineral occurrences of potential economic interest include diatomite, geothermal fluids and mineral salts, gold, gypsum, perlite, petroleum, and pumice.
